Tips for a successful Just Eat courier application

Applying to provide your delivery services as a Just Eat courier is straightforward—but small mistakes can slow you down. The good news? Most rejections are easy to avoid. This guide shares insider tips to help you get approved quickly.

Get organised before you apply

Many applicants start filling in their application and realise halfway through they're missing something. Then they have to stop, find what they need, and come back later. Spend some time organising the information you need to apply before you start.

Tip: spend some time gathering all the documents you need.

  • Your primary ID

  • Hire and Reward Insurance certificate (if using a car/van/motorcycle/scooter)

  • Driving licence (if using a car/van/motorcycle/scooter)

  • National Insurance Number

  • Every address you've lived at in the last 5 years (street, city, postcode, dates)

  • Recent proof of address (for example, a utility bill, bank statement, or council tax from the last 3 months. Mobile phone statements are not valid.)

Tip: Write down your 5-year address history before you start. It's where most people get stuck, and any gaps in your address history may delay your application.

Upload your documents right the first time

Before uploading your documents, make sure you know exactly what needs to be uploaded for a successful application.

Insurance certificate

When you apply for Hire and Reward business insurance, your insurance company sends you several documents. Make sure that when you apply, you upload the below only:

✅  Certificate of Motor Insurance

This is usually a one-page document titled "Certificate of Motor Insurance" or "Letter of Enrollment" at the top, showing your name, vehicle, and coverage details. Check that the document you upload contains all the following information:

1. Does it say "Hire and Reward" OR "Carriage of Goods"?

2. Is your name spelled exactly like your Just Eat profile?

3. If other companies are listed, does it also say "Just Eat"?

Tip: As a Just Eat courier, you can save £15 on your Hire and Reward insurance when you sign up with our partner, Zego. Get a quote in 5 minutes!

Do not upload any of the following documents:

❌ Schedule (shows prices)

❌ Quote (before you buy)

❌ Email or app screenshot

Driving licence

UK licences have information on both front and back. We need both to verify your details. When uploading your driving licence, make sure you include both sides of the licence as individual uploads.

Upload two separate photos:

- Photo 1: front

- Photo 2: back

Tip: Zoom in after taking the photo. If you can't read the small text, retake it.

Name matching matters

One of the most common reasons for application delays is a name mismatch across documents. To verify your identity quickly, your name must appear identically on everything you upload. This includes:

  • Just Eat profile

  • Insurance certificate

  • Driving licence

  • Background check

Example: If the name on your insurance says "John Smith" but your Just Eat profile says "Jonathan Smith", you need to change your profile name to match your insurance.

Act fast with your background check

Your background check is one of the biggest reasons applications stall. The process itself is straightforward, but delays happen when applicants wait too long to start or don't have the right information ready. Follow the below steps to ensure a fast approval process.

Start with your background check

Don't wait. The sooner you complete it, the sooner we get your results and we can move on to the next step.

Have your address history ready

You need every address from the last 5 years:

  • Full street address

  • City/town

  • Postcode

  • Dates (month and year)

Tip: Can't remember dates? Check old bills, bank statements, or rental agreements.

Apply for your Right to Work share code

Apply straight away for your share code on this website: gov.uk/prove-right-to-work. The application takes 5 minutes!

After submitting your application

After you submit your application, you'll see a page that says "Submission Complete". This does not mean that you are approved and ready to start delivering on our network, but that you have uploaded all your documents. After this, our team will spend some time reviewing your documents. Once approved, we'll be in touch!
